Human Resources Development (HRD) provides classes to assist the unemployed and underemployed in gaining new skills and/or upgrading existing skill sets. HRD classes are related to the follow areas:

Workforce Certification Academy© Training:
The mission of the Workforce Certification Academy© is to meet workforce needs and to prepare individuals for employment by providing demand-driven, short-term training that leads to national, state, or industry-recognized certifications. Courses include:
Orientation to Certified Production Technician (CPT) - Students are introduced to the field of advanced manufacturing and earn a NC Career Readiness Certificate.
Orientation to Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) - Students are introduced to the field of Logistics (transportation and distributions) and earn a NC Career Readiness Certificate.
Certified Production Technician (CPT) - The CPT course provides training for national certification in four areas: Safety Awareness, Manufacturing Processes, Quality Practices, and Maintenance Awareness.
Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) - The CLT training provides two national credentials; Certified Logistics Associate and a mid-level Certified Logistics Technician. These certifications are nationally validated skills standards which prepare individuals for front-line jobs in material handling, manufacturing factories, warehouses, distribution centers, and transportation.
OSHA 10 Training - The OSHA 10 certification course for General Industry provides training for entry level workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in the workplace.
OHSA Forklift - This course provides instruction on the operation and maintenance of an industrial forklift. Core topics include forklift design, controls and instrumentation, pre-use inspection, safety awareness, and forklift stability. This course meets the training requirements for OSHA regulations.
Siemens Mechatronics Program - Mechatronics focuses on the integration of mechanical, electrical, fluid power (hydraulics or pneumatics), and computer technologies to control machine movements. Students begin with courses in Mechanical Components, Senors, Basic Electronical Components, Pneumatics, Control Logic and Robot Programming Control. Upon successful completion of the Siemens Mechatronics Program courses, students take the Siemens Level 1 Certification Exam and are eligible to obtain college credit by examination.
Green Production - Green Production is defined as workplace activities across all industries within the manufacturing sector that require the use of equipment, technologies, and processes that will improve the environmental performance of manufacturing companies. The GPM Certificate expands far beyond just workers in green product sites (e.g., wind, solar equipment producers).
Computer Literacy Skills Training/Job Search Training - Students can received FREE (with HRD Fee Waiver for qualified students) computer literacy training in the following areas:
*Intro to Computer Skills for the Job Seeker
*Basic Computer Skills for Today's Job Search
*Computer Literacy for Gaining Employment (students have the opportunity to obtain a Microsoft Digital Literacy Certification)
